Davies, Gerald (1945- )
Rugby union player for Cardiff, London Welsh, Wales, the British Lions, and the Barbarians. Educated at Queen Elizabeth Grammar School, Carmarthen, Loughborough College, and Cambridge University (where he won three blues, 1968-1970), he was a superb, fast, aggressive centre and wing three-quarter. For Wales he scored 20 international tries (a record shared with Gareth Edwards), and 3 for the British Lions. In all he won 56 caps. In retirement Davies became a distinguished rugby correspondent for The Times.
