Bennett, Phil (1948- )
Welsh rugby union player for Llanelli, Wales, the British Lions, and Barbarians. An outstanding fly-half (usually partnered by Gareth Edwards at scrum-half), an expert kicker, with an adroit dummy, side-step, and swerve, he won 29 caps for Wales. He made eight Test appearances for the British Lions, whom he captained in New Zealand in 1977 (only the second Welsh player to have led the Lions).
