Woosnam, Ian Harold (1958- )

British golfer and the best ever from Wales. He became a golf professional in 1976 and had his first tour win in the Swiss Open in 1982. He has won numerous tournaments including the Scottish Open (1987 and 1990), the Irish Open (1988 and 1989), the World Match Play (1990), and the Professional Golfers' Association (PGA) Grand Slam of Golf (1991). His most important victory was the United States Masters in 1991. He also led Wales to win the World Cup in 1987. He played in each Ryder Cup between 1983 and 1993.
